TWC Provides Brain Break!

12.04.19
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

We love The Walking Classroom! We take our daily walk after math class and we definitely need a brain break after doing elapsed time word problems!

The program has been a blessing for my students. We don’t have recess until the end of the school day, so our daily walks are necessary for my students to get their wiggles out, refresh, and recharge. I can tell a big difference in energy levels after our walks. After the break from the classroom, the students return ready to take on the rest of the day.

Another big plus is the variety of topics available on the WalkKits. We are currently studying the government in social studies. Some of these ideas are pretty abstract, so being able to present the information in different ways improves comprehension.

With The Walking Classroom, my students can listen to the podcast about branches of government, talk about the podcast, and deepen their understanding. Then, when we discuss it further during class, they say, “Hey! We learned about that on our walk!” The Walking Classroom not only boosts my students’ health, but also lifts their confidence too!
