Taking Learning to a New Environment!

08.29.18
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Our students are required to use a computer program thirty minutes every single day. The students lose interest in the technology. They don’t want to work, or even attempt to learn anything new on this program, mainly because they must sit still for thirty minutes to complete their time. TWC gets them out of their seats, out of our room, and sometimes even out of the school. It gives them a chance to move, get some air, and take their learning to a new environment. They love it, and so do I!

Physical activity is helpful to student learning. It gets the “I’m bored” students, the “can’t sit still” students, even the “I don’t want to do this” students a chance to MOVE! Students can engage in learning in a different way.

For those kiddos who can’t sit still while they work, The Walking Classroom provides the perfect, structured opportunity for them to move and get out the wiggles while they learn. For those “I’m bored” students, it takes away the boring regularity of sitting at the desk or in their classroom. And the “I don’t want to do this” never say no to getting out of the classroom!

I have read so much research about how important physical activity is for our kids. I firmly believe (and now can really see!) the research is true!
