Students Beg to Walk Every Day!

04.08.20
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

The Walking Classroom is an amazing program! Every day my students beg to go for a walk and listen to another podcast. I am amazed by the things that they are learning. They’ve learned about history, science, writing, and the list goes on and on.

Specifically, my students enjoyed listening to Native American Constellations (4-#67, Complete-#146). After we finished a unit on Native Americans, my students presented at an open house. They were able to share some of the legends and lore of the constellations during their presentations.

One student shared the Navajo legend. This lesson also carried over into science because we are just starting to learn about the night-time sky. The podcasts had brought up light pollution, and we discussed how we can see the night time sky clearly because we are not in a big city.

Whether it’s raining, snowing, or the sun is shining, my students love to get out there and walk. Sometimes we walk along the trout stream behind our school. My students have witnessed several spawning trout trying to flop up the stream!

Thank you to The Walking Classroom for offering such amazing and educational programs for my fifth grade students!
