Want your students to be awake and energized?

Spring Break is Over!

Yesterday was the first day back from our week-long Spring Break. The students were sluggish and tired upon arriving to school. The good news is that I planned for us to use The Walking Classroom WalkKits first thing in the morning.

We were starting a new unit in Social Studies on Westward Expansion and what better way to introduce than to listen to one of the several different podcasts on that topic?

After the walk, my first question to the students was “How do you feel?” Several replied with “awake” and “energized.” What a way to ease back into school life!!

I am so thankful to have the opportunity to use The Walking Classroom, especially yesterday being the Monday after Spring Break. My students were able to wake up and get more focused for the rest of the day AND learn about Westward Expansion!!

The first day back after a break is always challenging. What a great way to wake kids up and help them readjust to the school schedule!

We had our walk planned for the afternoon and then it started raining. My students were instantly upset, but I reminded them that we can walk in the gym. They prefer to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, but they were happy to just get a chance to get up and learn.
