Reinforce Teaching with TWC!

10.02.19
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

The Walking Classroom covers so many topics that reinforce or introduce what I am teaching. Our favorite podcast so far has been the podcast explaining the meaning behind the song “Yankee Doodle” during the American Revolution.

We were all surprised to find out that “Yankee Doodle” isn’t just a funny song, but was actually meant as an insult towards patriot soldiers. It was interesting to discover how it later became a song of American patriotism. This is just one example of the fun, interesting, and engaging things that we have learned by listening to The Walking Classroom’s podcasts!

We are also seeing great benefits from getting exercise during our day. When we first received our WalkKits, we studied the benefits that exercise has not only on our body, but on our learning as well. After we walk, I find that I feel energized and my students are more focused.

In a world of sedentary lifestyles, it is so important for our kids to get up and get moving, but with more and more content to teach, it is hard to fit movement in during the school day. The Walking Classroom allows us to combine exercise and learning in a wonderful way!

I wish that you could hear the “yes!” that ripples through my classroom each time I announce that we are doing a Walking Classroom lesson. Thank you for changing the way we learn and allowing us to have fun too!
