Podcast Topics Fit with Academic Content!

posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Thank you so much for the joy you have added to our entire grade level! Many things are “optional” in our lesson plans, but listening to a weekly podcast and taking a walk outside never are!

Each week, our team collaboratively plans our lessons. We peruse the list of podcast topics and there are always several that fit beautifully with our content.

In language arts, we have learned about Greek and Latin Root Words (5-#69, Complete-#13) and Point of View (5-#70, Complete-#7 AND 4-#44, Complete-#19). And, we were able to celebrate Native American Heritage Month in social studies with a variety of podcasts.

In science, we have enjoyed listening to Heart and Circulatory System (4-#5, STEM-#31, Complete-#128), Conservation (5-#7, STEM-#36, Complete-#129), and Mountains (4-#77, STEM-#21, Complete-#136)! There always seems to be a great selection or two to support and enrich our learning.

And weather doesn’t stop us from walking, listening, and learning! One day in my class it was raining outside and I had a small group of kids with whom I had to meet. The rest of my class suggested walking around our classroom because they didn’t want to miss their opportunity! That’s love. Thank you for helping our class have this wonderful opportunity to meld learning and exercise.
