First Month of TWC = Amazing!

07.18.18
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to use The Walking Classroom. Our first month of implementation has been amazing!

I have students ask me almost every day when we’re going to walk next. I even had a student beg me to have the class listen to a podcast every day of the week! You should have heard the class erupt in cheers when I told them we’d be listening to The Heart and Circulatory System (STEM-#31, 4-#6) the next week!

Our very first podcast was Volcanoes (STEM-#19, 4-#76). It was incredible on so many accounts. It was great to see students exercising, laughing at the podcast, and then answering the questions and having an incredible discussion when we returned to class.

Honestly, I was surprised at how much information they retained from the podcast just from our brief discussion before and talking with a team afterward. We’re so grateful for The Walking Classroom, and we can’t wait to keep walking!

My students and I also listened to The Heart and Circulatory system podcast as a cross curriculum lesson/review for their Science EOG and Health Education nutrition unit. The discussion on the topic was epic. I loved when one of my students googled Dr. Christiann Barnard and discovered his race and was surprised because he came from Africa 🙂 GREAT opportunity to educate on another level.
