Excited to Get The Walking Classroom!

12.18.19
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I work in a Title I school where a lot of our students come from low-income families and funding for teachers is a struggle. When I heard that I would be getting a class set of Walking Classroom materials, I was ecstatic and excited! It was like a dream coming true. My students would be able to participate in this award-winning program.

When I introduced the program to my fourth graders and showed them the WalkKits, they were equally excited and couldn’t wait to go out on the walks. I enjoyed the whole philosophy behind the program. In addition, I loved the fact that I was provided with an electronic Teacher Guide and plenty of resources to support implementing it in an easy fashion.

The Walking Classroom is a great way to incorporate physical activity in classroom lessons. The program offers my students a new and fun way to learn because it goes outside of the traditional realm of teaching and learning. No more is the teacher is standing in front of the classroom lecturing while students sit behind desks listening.

Now my students and I have the opportunity to go out on fifteen to twenty minute walks while listening to podcasts on different topics and learning all at the same time. I am truly grateful for The Walking Classroom!
