Practicing Important Skills with TWC

09.22.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Thank you Walking Classroom! My class loves being able to go outside while we learn, and I am guilt free because I know we are practicing important skills such as listening comprehension, social emotional learning, tips for healthy living, grade level standards. Even better? We get to have an engaging discussion afterwards.

I know my students truly enjoy this weekly activity, because if we ever miss a session due to a busy schedule, it is the first thing they ask for. Just today, I had a group of students ask me if we could do The Walking Classroom this afternoon!

Sometimes students seem apathetic about their learning, so it is exciting for me when they ask for MORE of something. It is also exciting when a student makes a connection with something we heard on the podcast to a topic we are learning about in our curriculum.

I LOVE when my students reference something they heard in The Walking Classroom. They really enjoyed Trickster Stories (5-#45, Complete-#23), and they are becoming more and more interested in the history lessons that are related to what we are learning in social studies.

In a few weeks, I will be bringing The Walking Classroom to my science class as well as we begin to learn about the solar system, stars and constellations. Every week we look forward to our Walking Classroom session.
