TWC Makes Exercise Possible in Pandemic

08.11.21
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

This year proved a bit difficult for all of our students and staff in terms of physical fitness. However, with the resources that The Walking Classroom provided, I could take my sixth through eighth grade students outside to walk, listen, and learn about STEM topics. Even during the pandemic, we managed to get off the computers and exercise and learn two times a week. The students loved it!

In the classroom, we used The Walking Classroom’s lesson plans and assessments to pre-teach and post-teach, and the students really got a lot out of it! I also incorporated The Walking Classroom’s additional free resources and videos to reinforce the podcasts. This was a great way to introduce the program to the students (and staff!) who were new to it!

With the new addition of Shirley Chisholm Park nearby, we had the opportunity to walk and learn in a beautiful setting. With all school field trips canceled due to COVID, these excursions allowed the students to get out and even made them feel like they were on a field trip!

I appreciate all of The Walking Classroom resources and support! Having extra earbuds made it so much easier for us to stay safe from COVID. We at IS 364 are so grateful that we had The Walking Classroom resources to keep us educated and healthy, and cannot wait to continue in the new school year!
