Six Years Walking, Listening, and Learning!

11.09.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I have been using The Walking Classroom for over six years. When I first heard about it, I was like, “I can get paid to walk?” It sounded like a great program.

I first became an adopter when it was fairly new and I was teaching fifth graders. Over the years, I have gotten a lot of support, and I even got a classroom visit!

The Walking Classroom has improved so much over the years with teacher resources online and an awesome website. I was averaging once a week with my original WalkKits. Once I got a replacement set of walk-kits; however, I have been averaging two days a week.

My fourth graders love it! It is how we start our week! Monday morning, we go walking. I start off by showing a related video and go through The Walking Classroom’s slide deck, and then we walk.

When we return, students write down one to two things they learned from the podcast, and then we discuss. I try to hit on the quiz questions and go over the recap slide. We then play a Kahoot! with the quiz questions. I can use the quiz scores for a listening grade and the last two questions can be used for a health grade.

I absolutely LOVE The Walking Classroom!!!
