First Person vs. Third Person Podcast
This Walking Classroom podcast talks about first person vs. third person, that is, point of view in writing. First person is the “I” point of view where the narrator is a character in the story, often the main character. Third person is the “he” or “she” point of view where the narrator is not in the story, but rather watching the story unfold like a movie and describing it to others. When a story is told from first person, you see the story only through that character’s eyes. When a story is told in third person, the narrator can choose to share with the reader what many of the characters are thinking and feeling.
This podcast also features the following supplemental messages:
Health Message: Bullying
Character Value: Reliability
Supports Social and Emotional Learning
“This podcast began with the kids talking about bullying; the perfect connection to relationship conflicts that were happening on the yard! Not only did this podcast share tips for preventing bullying, such as speaking up by talking to an adult, but the podcast kids also did a great job discussing different types of bullying. This podcast led to meaningful discussions (and many more conversations!) about speaking up for yourself and standing up for others.” — Kathie Yonemura, 4th grade teacher, CA
