Mobile App Helpful for Remote Learning

11.10.21
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Last school year was such a struggle, yet having access to The Walking Classroom’s podcasts through the web-based mobile app was very helpful. My students really enjoyed the opportunity to benefit from these lessons from the comfort of their homes.

The podcast lessons tie so nicely to the fourth grade curriculum, and are so easy to use for review of a current unit or preview of the next unit. Taking this 15 to 20 minute walk in the middle of the morning helped to break up our day while enjoying some fresh air. The students always really enjoy these walks and don’t even mind when the weather is cold, as it can be in the winter in Chicago!

The quizzes, set up as Google Forms, also made it so easy for all students to participate with minimal effort from me. I have always used the quizzes to encourage close listening to the podcasts and these especially appreciated this easy access to them!

Most of my students remained remote throughout the entire school year, thus using The Walking Classroom podcasts would have proved impossible without the use of the web-based mobile app. I look forward to life returning to near normal next year and the ability to continue to use my WalkKits with my new group of fourth grade students!
