Gifted Resource Teacher Over the Moon!

12.21.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

After attending the national Title I conference in New Orleans earlier this year, I was so excited about The Walking Classroom. I applied for a grant, eager to share about the amazing students and staff here at Parkway Elementary.

As the Gifted Resource Teacher, I work with over 40 identified students as well as all of the population with our gifted cluster model here in Virginia Beach. I knew these devices would be perfect for me to share with all my teachers.

When we received our set of materials in the fall, I was over the moon! I never thought we would get so lucky but I immediately began sharing the news.

My administration and I decided we would begin implementing the program in my third through fifth grade cluster classrooms. The introduction lessons were an absolute dream come true. Students who don’t usually respond to instruction were elated to participate.

My students’ productivity immediately increased. Their engagement doubled and even tripled after each Walking Classroom lesson. They loved the quizzes and constantly repeated the nutrition and health facts from the podcasts.

Several of my teachers reported that students begged to do another walk and even asked if they could use it as a reward for good behavior. Each of my teachers began to implement the program independently and the classes were off and walking!

We LOVE this program!
