TWC Working in Several Ways

08.25.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I am the PE teacher at Pine Valley Elementary in Wilmington, North Carolina. Here at Pine Valley Elementary, we are utilizing The Walking Classroom in several ways.

Our third grade teachers each get one day a week to do The Walking Classroom with their classes. Our school is in the middle of a large neighborhood, so it is so easy for the students to walk on the trails and sidewalks off campus while they listen to the podcasts. The students all love it and are so excited when it is their day!

We are also using The Walking Classroom with our small group reading interventions across grades three through five. In addition, our MTSS Coordinator is also working with a girls’ group for interventions and social skills, and they go out to walk the neighborhood together while doing The Walking Classroom.

We love all of the ways we are using The Walking Classroom at Pine Valley Elementary, and are so excited and thankful to have this program!
