TWC Has Been a Success!

10.25.23
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

The Walking Classroom has been such a success in my classroom this year! I teach a seventh grade gifted and talented cohort in ELA and we implemented The Walking Classroom this year. We are also an MYP IB school. The character values addressed, as well as the physical activity or health and wellness aspect has really tied into the IB component quite well. Students are connecting to IB Character profiles traits more than ever with the influence of the Walking Classroom podcasts.

The total engagement of the students has been a wonderful result of using The Walking Classroom. I cannot begin to tell you how delightful it is to hear students asking every day, “Are we going outside to do the Walking Classroom today?” Sometimes when the weather does not cooperate, we walk around inside the school. Students are genuinely disappointed when we can’t do the Walking Classroom.

I also really appreciate the variety of topics included with the Walking Classroom. I have been really excited that every week, I can find a topic that is directly related to the skill or standard I am working on.

As the weather continues to get better and better this spring, I look forward to being able to get outside more and more to listen to the lessons and engage in the thoughtful and reflective discussions between the students after listening to each podcast! The connections and relevancy between the topics and the real world that the students create never ceases to amaze me!
