Technology Teacher Takes to the Trail!

07.31.19
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

As the technology teacher at my school, I use The Walking Classroom with two fourth grade classrooms. This allows me to reach three total fourth grade classes due to split classes for related arts.

The students look forward to their Walking Classroom lessons. We’ve made changes and accommodations along the way due to my unique situation, walking one day in the morning and then during their related arts class. The students will go straight to their teacher when class is over and discuss the topic and what they learned. They make connections with what they have covered in class.

My favorite is when we (yes, me too!) learn something new. I still remember the podcast on Idioms (Complete-#3, 4-#7, 5-#3), where we learned where some idioms came from. It’s funny that you take for granted understanding different idioms, but you never realize where they originated!

In technology class, I have also enjoyed matching the lessons with themes that go with the students’ social studies and ELA curriculums, covering topics like Black History Month. I can’t wait to use this resource year after year!

Thank you to The Walking Classroom for having a unique approach to learning!
