Seven Years Walking with TWC

09.29.21
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I have been using The Walking Classroom for about seven years now. The program has been an innovative way for my students to learn while not sitting in the classroom all day long.

After using the program with seven different classes now, I can say that each year I have done things slightly differently. It all depends on the group of kids. Sometimes I have led my class as we walked. Sometimes I would divide my class into two groups and let a student be in charge of leading the class where they would like to walk. What’s so great about this program is that you can really adapt it to how it will work best for you and your class!

I also love to use all the videos and other resources The Walking Classroom has included for each podcast. These videos, printables, activities, and virtual field trips among The Walking Classroom’s Adopter Resources help to solidify the topic for the kids!

Additionally, I love that I have flexibility in how and where my class walks. We are often stuck inside due to bad weather. Even though my kids don’t like walking inside as much as outside, they still know that they get to be up and moving. It really is a favorite time of day for my kids!
