Serving All Students Thanks to TWC

09.30.20
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I work at an agency-based school that specializes in serving students with emotional/behavioral disabilities, students with trauma histories, and students with autism. This year I work with third and fourth grade students. About half of my students are below grade level in their reading abilities and even more struggle to sit in class for long term.

Having access to The Walking Classroom has been a huge support! It has greatly enhanced the learning of my class. The students I am serving are now able to hear information about educational topics independently.

This program has allowed all of my students to engage in the curriculum while having appropriate access to movement. Our building is small, so the walking aspect isn’t able to be done year-round, but we have worked on walking through the halls and walking outside when the weather is nicer. These podcasts have even opened conversations about other podcasts and historical lessons about the “podcasts” of yesteryear — radio shows.

With COVID-19 precautions still in place, I will utilize The Walking Classroom even more as it will be easier to maintain social distancing outdoors. Thank you so much for making this possible.
