This Walking Classroom podcast discusses the effective use of metaphors and similes. Metaphors describe something by comparing it to something else that is totally different. For example, “a blanket of snow” describes snow covering everything. Similes use the word “like” or “as” to make a comparison. For example, “he was as strong as an ox.”
