Today’s Walking Classroom podcast talks about the African-American physician, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams. Dr. Williams is best remembered for his pioneering work as a surgeon and his forward-thinking ideas about cleanliness and sterilization as a means to prevent infection. He dedicated his life to improving medical treatment for African-Americans who, in the postslavery era, were denied treatment at white-only hospitals.
