
Today’s Walking Classroom focuses on Dr. Charles Drew. Born in 1904, Dr. Drew was a gifted physician and surgeon whose pioneering work in the collection and preservation of blood has saved countless lives and earned him the nickname “Father of the Blood Bank”. As an African American, he faced many obstacles during his education and career, but overcame them thanks to his skill, perseverance, and dedication to medicine.
