Today’s Walking Classroom podcast teaches about castles of the Middle Ages, a period of time stretching from approximately 500 AD through 1500 AD. Castles during the Middle Ages were built mainly for protection. Castles had elaborate systems of defense that included moats, murder holes, arrow loops, and keeps. Entire villages often lived within the castle.
