Intrigued by TWC Curriculum

posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I work for San Benito CISD After School Program. I attended the 2022 OSTI-CON in Fort Worth and I decided to sit in on the Walking Classroom presentation and was immediately intrigued at the curriculum and the usefulness it could possibly have at my campus.

During my time at OSTI-CON, I was able to “check-out” a device for the afternoon and listen to the podcasts. I was ecstatic when I got my own set of WalkKits!

The students that attend the after school program at my campus are mostly rural families with limited access to internet and technology. I love how the students are not only able to get their steps in but have a lesson rooted in academics and SEL. Our students love to be outside and being able to incorporate this curriculum has helped my students learn valuable lessons.

I can see how our students interact with each other more after the lessons and they are quoting the podcasts. Seeing their growth in positive peer-to-peer relationships has been such a rewarding experience. Our Afterschool Program started using the program with our third and fourth grade students and expanded utilization to our second and fifth grade students.

Thank you so much for The Walking Classroom.
