Individualized Instruction After School!

03.15.17
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Using The Walking Classroom in an After-School Enrichment program has been just great! I like to let the students look over the podcasts and allow them to group three or four of the podcasts together to create their own individualized unit of study. We started the year with a unit on baseball. Then, with the election this fall, students listened to several podcasts about Presidents.

Right now, we are studying artists. On another day of the after-school program, the students enjoy an art lesson. They have a project using the techniques of one of the artists from The Walking Classroom podcasts to which they listened.

The Walking Classroom provides such a variety of podcasts that we can design different and unique lessons. Being outside of the classroom and an enrichment program, we are not bound by a curriculum. The kids love it!
