Awesome in a Year of Craziness!

01.18.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

The Walking Classroom was so awesome last year, even during a year of craziness! We started the school year in remote learning, so unfortunately, we were unable to use The Walking Classroom as we had intended to during that time.

However, once we got back to school in February, students were ready to go! We had to socially distance and wear masks in the classroom. Getting outside to walk was an awesome opportunity to take off our masks, get exercise, and listen to our podcasts! Students looked forward to this time each day. It was really our only sense of normalcy!

Since we had to also remain in our seats and stay socially distanced while indoors, the kids really needed this outdoor break. Plus, it was time away from the screens on our laptops. Getting laptops and learning online was exciting at first! But after a while, it got old. The Walking Classroom was the perfect escape.

As I usually do, I was able to select podcasts that correlated with our curriculum. I loved that when I would teach a social studies or science lesson, we could incorporate details that we heard in the podcasts. We used our learning to create posters, Google Slides, and presentations that we shared with our classrooms and our families. I am so grateful that The Walking Classroom was there to help me this year!
