Afterschool Adventures with TWC

I use The Walking Classroom with our afterschool program, and my students are in love with it! We walk on our playground when the weather permits, and we walk in the gym when the weather is bad. When we finish with our walk, we come back to the classroom and talk about the podcast topic.

This is a great tool for our afterschool program. The kids get a snack and then we go to homework time. They have been in school all day and they do not want to do homework or more learning after school because they are in need of a break. The Walking Classroom provides them some exercise and out of their seat time as well as learning. This is exactly what they are needing after a day at school. I am so glad there is a program like this.

The students are excited to see what topic we are going to listen to that day. They always come into my classroom asking if we are doing The Walking Classroom. Some of them even ask which days we are walking so that they can be sure to attend those days. They would love to do The Walking Classroom every day! They have even asked if their parents can buy the program.

I love that this program is easy to use. I have a storage container that I keep the WalkKits in. The students are then easily able to grab a WalkKit and their headphones, and turn to the number of the podcast for the day. We are able to make a quick transition from classroom to walking and back to the classroom when we are finished.

I am so glad that our director heard about this program. I can’t wait to hear and learn about more of the topics. Thank you so much for developing a program like this.
