Walk and learn without taking time from curriculum

04.13.16
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

My class 5th grade received the walking classroom at the beginning of the 2015,2016 school year. I wanted the students to be able to move during the day.

This program has truly made learning better for my students.

They get to walk and learn without taking time from curriculum.

What a great program!

5th Grade Teacher

I totally agree with Lowell’s story. Having children with social
behaviors and some with unique learning styles, it is wonderful to
have a tool like The Walking Classroom which provides exercise and
education all at the same time. We are truly grateful for this gift.

I love your comment about “without taking time from the curriculum”! I think that’s the key…it simply isn’t possible for me to offer my students extra recess time, but they enjoy The Walking Classroom just as much, and they are learning even more than they would just sitting in the classroom. It really is the best of both worlds!

I love the fact that students are physically active while also listening and learning about topics that support Common Core State Standards. As the teacher I also enjoy listening to the podcast and having the opportunity to go for a walk.
