Thanks to the Oak Foundation!

Our fifth grade was the fortunate recipient of a granted set of Walking Classroom materials, thanks to the Oak Foundation. We have a unique problem here in Utah with weather during the winter months. This year we have experienced record-breaking snowfall and rain, and we also struggle with poor air quality. Most of our winter this year has been spent inside during school hours, which is so unfortunate.

This has not stopped us from keeping up on our walks. We have a circular shaped building, which looks a bit like an outdoor track. We have trained our staff and students about the children they see walking each day with their WalkKits. It’s become a really popular question I get from the staff and visitors, “What are your students listening to?”

While we have had to improvise with the weather struggles we have faced, The Walking Classroom activity remains a favorite of all my students. It has given younger students something exciting to look forward to when they enter fifth grade. Our Liberty Hills Huskies love The Walking Classroom.
