Smile, breathe, and walk briskly!

For most of you, the new school year is right around the corner. You’re probably feeling excited and anxious to get started, AND you’re probably feeling overwhelmed and anxious about getting started! (At this point during the writing of this blog post, I searched the Internet for “quotes about anxiety.” As you might guess, many were pretty heartbreaking, so I revised my search to “inspirational quotes about anxiety.” Much better!) Here’s a quote that fits what we’re trying to do to help:

Stress is caused by being “here” but wanting to be “there.” ~Eckhart Tolle

The Walking Classroom program is dedicated to easing the incredibly demanding task of teachers getting students “there.” We have created and collected a TON of resources (with more to come!) to support the management of The Walking Classroom and its podcasts. I encourage you to visit our “Teacher Resources” page as well as our Pinterest page to see the resources available. Throughout the month of August and into September, we will post tips to help ensure you have a smooth introduction of The Walking Classroom with your students. Please take the time to really review the Teacher’s Guide and its suggestions on how to introduce the program to your students—taking a few extra minutes of class time at the beginning of the year to establish routines and review expectations will really benefit you throughout the school year.

Last but not least, another inspirational stress quote I found: Smile, breathe, and go slowly. I think Thich Nhat Hanh was pretty eloquent with that one, but I like my version better:

Smile, breathe, and walk briskly. ~Laura Fenn
