My fifth graders adore The Walking Classroom. They spend all of their non-specials classes with me, so they love having the opportunity to get a change of scenery! Personally, I very much enjoy the experience of sharing these podcasts together while out on a walk.
My school has students from only two grades, fourth and fifth, but we have nine classes of each grade. The set of WalkKits we have is shared by all our fifth grade classes. As you can imagine, they are a hot commodity!
I was very surprised with the depth of learning that my fifth graders have expressed after listening to the podcasts. My students know that they have been given a great opportunity to use the WalkKits. They are proving that they have better retention of material when being physically active.
I enjoy the podcasts and The Walking Classroom experience as much as the students. We will be back hitting the pavement soon!
