Enhancing the Curriculum with TWC

01.18.23
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

I was blessed when I received The Walking Classroom. My co-teacher and I absolutely love enhancing our curriculum with the podcasts.

It is so interesting to see all the students engaged and enjoying learning. When the weather is pleasant, we walk the perimeter of the school, and on bad weather days, we walk the halls.

The students are so excited to participate in The Walking Classroom at least twice a week and they get upset if the schedule is disrupted. During each walk, we have at least four or five students from other classes stop to ask what we are doing and how they can get involved with their classes.

Last week, we listened to Alliteration and Personification (5-#67, Complete-#5) and Simile and Metaphor (4-#11, 5-#72, Complete-#4). The students had so much fun creating their own alliterations during our debrief.

I absolutely love the energy, excitement, and health benefits this program instills. Thank you so much for enriching my classroom and positively impacting my students.

Since walking outside in single digit weather doesn’t appeal to any of us, we have also taken to walking the hallways. Now I have small groups walking together, which has out great, because the kids really want to listen to the podcasts and it gives them a chance to show responsibility. We are able to have about 3 groups walk each day.
