An Amazing Experience for my Students

05.24.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

Thank you for the WalkKits. The Walking Classroom is an amazing experience for my group of students who have just returned from being homeschooled for over a year. The walking and learning we do each week allows for students to get up and move more than they would if we were not fortunate to have this program.

Each day we walk, we start with a class discussion about vocabulary, main ideas and the podcast’s connection to our in-class work. They students have been very responsible with the WalkKits and take pride in keeping them in working order.

Our walk is about 1.5 miles through the neighborhood surrounding our school. The students look forward to their chance to be the pace car to lead us around.

A few of the favorite podcasts we have listened to his year are “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” (5-#6, Complete-#30), “Who’s on First?” (5-#19, Complete-#122), and the interviews with scientists that are part of the Science Career Series. Students are excited to listen to the teacher and students who talk during the podcasts, and I enjoy hearing the conversations my students have after listening!
