TWC Supplementing Curriculum

10.27.22
posted by a Walking Classroom Adopter

We love how The Walking Classroom has supplemented our curriculum. The students are enjoying being able to learn while they walk inside or out. Typically we listen to a podcast three times before taking an assessment.

The resources that accompany the podcast have been a huge asset to our new reading and writing curriculum. The podcasts for grammar are in a different format that allows the students to hear and practice these skills in different ways.

The science podcasts have also been great. Our students have especially enjoyed the space-related ones. For some students, this information has served as a precursor before they cover it in the classroom, and for others it serves as a review.

People-related podcasts have assisted our students with their social studies and science curriculum. Students have even cited them as sources within their biography papers and presentations. I have loved this most of all!

Being able to expose students to content that is not just written, but in audio form, is wonderful. It has even encouraged some students to listen to audiobooks.

My co-teacher and I have really enjoyed using The Walking Classroom this year. We look forward to incorporating the program even more into our curriculum next year.
