TWC Hits the Road for Conferences

01.19.18
posted by Natalie Dekle

It may be mid-winter, but we’re not exactly hibernating here at The Walking Classroom. In fact, we’ve been busy preparing for our participation in a number of conferences and education events happening in the southeast. Maybe we’ll see you at one of them!

From School Events . . .

North Carolina ASCD (NC ASCD) Conference
February 7 – 9

In early February, we will exhibit and present with one of our adopters at the NC ASCD Conference. This event will be held in Pinehurst, North Carolina. While the prospect of a few days in Pinehurst is pretty exciting, there’s something even more thrilling for us about that trek. What could that be? A site visit! Yes, we may even manage to get in a site visit with one of our adopters along the way, and we are really looking forward to that!

An ASCD affiliate, the NC ASCD works to advance student achievement by supporting educators. This conference includes three keynote presentations, four general sessions, and five small group sessions, so it provides those working in education time for some networking and learning of their own!

Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) Health & Wellness Summit
February 8

We will also exhibit at the VAIS Health & Wellness Summit, which will be held at the Steward School in Richmond, Virginia.

The Health & Wellness Summit is one of over a dozen conferences and professional development opportunities provided by the VAIS. This one in particular is geared toward school wellness professionals, and it focuses on how school communities can support students and educators in areas of health and wellness. Attendees include coaches, nurses, counselors, teachers, and administrators.

North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES) 2018 Conference
February 28 – March 2

You can see The Walking Classroom at the NCTIES 2018 Conference, where we will exhibit at Booth #732 at this event held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Look for our presentation, and take advantage of the chance to walk, listen, and learn with The Walking Classroom too!

With over 3,500 teachers, tech facilitators and coaches, administrators, and media specialists expected to attend, NCTIES 2018 has a lot going on! The event includes meet and greet opportunities, keynotes, featured speakers, and a vendor exhibit hall. The range of sessions offered provide a wealth of professional development opportunities, so there is more than enough to satisfy the diverse array of attendees!

Georgia Charter Schools Conference
March 5 – 7

The Walking Classroom then makes its way to the Georgia Charter Schools Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, so be sure to stop by Booth #8 and say hello!

Good news for some of our adopters in the southeast! The journey to Atlanta makes some site visits possible. En route, we will have time for a few stops to see adopters, and maybe you’ll be one of them!

The only statewide gathering of the Georgia Charter Schools community, this year’s conference has the theme “Setting the Course.” The event includes six breakout sessions and several keynote addresses, and that’s not all! In addition, awards for Teacher of the Year, Leader of the Year, and Charter School of the Year will be presented.

. . . to Out-of-School Time!

Not a school educator? No worries, because The Walking Classroom is exhibiting at more than just school-based events this season! Our schedule provides out-of-school time professionals the opportunity to learn more about The Walking Classroom too.

National Afterschool Association (NAA) Annual Convention
March 18 – 21

We return to Atlanta, Georgia a second time in March for the NAA Annual Convention, where The Walking Classroom will be exhibiting and presenting! Be sure to look for us on the schedule!

Attended by over 2,000 afterschool professionals and leaders, the convention provides plenty of opportunities to learn, network, and/or be inspired! It includes special events, workshops and intensive sessions, and daily keynotes too. Looking for something especially engaging? There is even an interactive Learning Expo as well, and you should check it out!

More Opportunities on the Way!

Not attending any of these upcoming events? Have no fear, because you can experience The Walking Classroom at plenty of other conferences as the year progresses. Just keep an eye on our website to find out where you can see (and learn more!) about our program. We hope to meet you in our travels!

Are you located near one of our upcoming destinations? Let us know! We’d enjoy stopping by for a visit. We’d love to see The Walking Classroom in action at your school or site, and maybe even take a walk with you!
